Mission Bay — July fogged—

‘don’t swin in a foggy beach”

Auckland was foggy extremely on 22nd July 2013. In the morning from where I was you couldn’t see pass the least than one hundred meters. But when the sun came out in later in the later mornings it became slight clearer, burning the fog out,  roughly Teen-ish in the morning mostly Mission bay was fogged out in the Waitemata harbour, in which was unsafe to swim out, as you could barely see the Rangitoto Island, least than only a dangerous least than 100 meters away. The incoming out going Ships blasted their fog horns in the fogged out harbour in the distance where it could not been seen.  Mission Bay from that point was seen as a a Nicole Kidman movie ” The Others” in where your live-ishly are in the scene where you are in the self, directed, also screen play sequel of the movie.

Arriving there,  driving along Tamaki drive thinking only could see the only a little of the shore line also a bit more, only on actually the expected view is replace by fog in the very close distance like the cursed Black Pearl arrived in the harbour to loot the oncoming ships.

Done on a three mega pixel HP digital camera, on the month circa October 2007 AD nearly sunsetted.

Looking out southish, into the Manukau Harbour on a late springs day on 2007, just coming out from a very warm winter, but not of this years in which has been very wintery polar.   As you could see out in the distance the Manukau harbour the distance mouth, the Township of Mangere Bridge, hiding behind is Puketutu Island, a private Island. In the very distance you could see (Jean Batten’s International Airport) Auckland International Airport’s runway has aircrafts of all types arrives and departs. In the very distance is the entrance mouth, in between Wattie and Wonga Wonga Bay there it leads to the Tasman sea where it meets the shore lines of Australia, next stop Sydney.

In the fore ground you could see an intriguing explorationally place call the Stardome Planetarium and Observatory with its research observatory also behind the clusters of bushel leaves, on the right is the Edith Winstone Blackwell Zeiss Telescope, with thirty inch mirror, as on left is the Planetarium installed Ether and Sutherland.

How’ it started….

My first of many shots of Luna - first time of that night.
My first of many shots of Luna – first time of that night.

How It started, I guess it started, of watching a you tube clip when Justine Ezarik, known by as iJustine,  place a either Go Pro, or some sort of camera at that she place at the lens of the telescope, I’ve tried to find the exact you tube clip, must be hundreds after that now. So that how it became, got my freshly minted ten MP camera. After so many trials and errors, placing on first starting out with the celestron five inch diameter aperture mirror, it took a while, doing it free hand then later I graduated in to the LX 200 Meade telescopes the Ten plus the eight inches mirror, as I could remeber it was one cold night in which it hasn’t rained for weeks. . Somehow  looking back, that I’m gathering how did Justine did it in one go, presumably with flair, grace, and diligences, with more trails and errors in  that case was those trails and errors my first case of photographing Luna.

At first it was interesting, using different lens, and different mirror sizes, the larger the mirror as I discover trialling it out gave a more definitions of image, interchanging through various sizes, also trailing out the camera zoom which taken a lot of experimental trails to get that right, like in the first episode of Gossip Girl, when there’s a young shorten long darken hair teenage girl, taken her first shots of Serena as she walked up the balcony of the Grand central station in New York city, awaiting her ride back to home on the upper east side.

There’s more as to note, as well the feel of the camera, or you using your iOS device, or Android phone, when free handly photographing your first time of Luna.  Like for example taking photos of Luna through your iPhone, case may vary due the feel of the phone casing, which may change the dynamics of the experience of photographing the moon through the Lens of the  telescope.

Who’s that girl…….?

Where has she been, Serena, and who am I? That’s one secret I’ll never tell! You know you love me ! xo xo Gossip Girl..  in this case it’s Luna the moon that orbits the Earth. it’s also akin to the relationship is like in between Serena van der Woodsen and her Mother  Lily van der Woodsen, akin to the same relationship like Luna to Earth re-learning her daughter again.

When you look up in the night sky, there’s a girl that up in the night sky her name is Luna, she’s the moon that in fully dressed in a white lacy, with a greyish white silk lining dress, finds you around in the dark where there’s no torch, lantern, or lighter that you have to find you around in your pocket or your Lara Croft backpack, also she helps you with your directions if you lost.

When you see Luna, in half or in two quarter phased, you’ll see her interesting features, the depth of the craters, cast shadows , you’ll see her intricate lacy lattice detail surface of her dress, or the Luna surface, how the texture of the surface, the matt graininess between the smoother also roughen terrain.
