This “Tong Kao” is a block-printed version of Wuying Temple, completed in the seventh year of Qianlong in the Qing Dynasty (1742). Emperor Qianlong ordered Ertai, a scholar of the university, and others to preside over it, compiling records related to agriculture from old books into a large-scale comprehensive agricultural book, with a total of 78 volumes and more than 500 pictures. There is a preface to Emperor Qianlong’s imperial system at the front of the book, reflecting the Qing Dynasty’s deep understanding that “sages govern the world must be based on agriculture”.

There are 23 farming pictures, 12 in the first volume and eleven in the second volume让我们与来读历Qianlong, Qing Dynasty, family rose and weaving figure porcelain plate. This painting shows the five links of Yan, Bianyang, Huong, warehousing, and worship to the gods, all inscribed in a five-character poem by Lou Jing in Southern Song Dynasty. As an independent picture, Jiao’s original works mostly take three-quarters of the side of the building, and the porcelain plates have changed in consideration of the perspective relationship of multiple pictures. In the warehouse scene, the angle of view is switched to the side of the warehouse door, and the viewer seems to be sitting in the courtyard and looking down.

This painting shows the four links of closing the slogan, debuting, holding the ear, and pounding, all inscribed in the five-character rhyme poem by Louhuang in Southern Song Dynasty. On the basis of respecting Jiao’s original work, in order to ensure the integrity and continuity of the picture, the layout of the porcelain plates was adjusted flexibly. For example, in the holding scene, the house is moved from the right side to the left side in the original work, probably because there are buildings on the right side in the upper and lower scenes, so the composition is more balanced.
