AN URBAN OBELISK | One Tree Hill

When you see the obelisk in Auckland this is one of many influence landmarks in the urban central Auckland, known as one tree hill. When you arrive at One Tree hill,  the location will give you breath taking views of the natural  Auckland small metropolis landscape, its surroundings… covers all the compass directional points from all the way from extent of Bombay hills, to the views of past Takapuna… also to the shorelines of extent of the mountain lines of the Thames..

One tree hill itself, is not also a viewing platform it’s also a monument for one of the founding fathers of Auckland, Sir Logan Campbell, whom is buried in his tomb where the epitaph obelisk points upwards also to as a Visual Observation Reference guide point for arriving aircraft whom is bound to land at Auckland international Airport, or known wise as Jean Batten International Airport..

As to the name of One Tree Hill, there used to be several pine trees planted on the hill itself, until the six died out naturally, then one whom the last has been murdered…  historically the site where the obelisk sits on is where sits on is a Marae, a meeting hall in pre- colonial Auckland Past..

Today it’s least than quarter into spring, and it’s somehow beginning to feel like the feel of summery is coming, but two years ago, it came early… but early freshly chilled though…. One nice thing that then is that you get to see more of a prolonging sunset in the West down to Phia as you see the beautiful clouds glow with warm colours of warm lime citrine yellow, oranges to the more of the glow soft colour pastels pinkish red-ish orange..  shadowing silhouette trees, buildings has if was a life-size, shadow puppet play on real life…stage…

One driving escape.

This is one drive of road is one of the best escapes from after work, given you just had heavy work load. When you drive down this drive, it refreshing you has you drive down slowly to take you time driving down or up the drive. Locate in the first thing that you drive into in Cornwell Park,  is a drive known as Pohutukawa drive from the Greenlane west, Auckland, New Zealand.

The drive is surrounded by beautifully Edwardian planted trees, that it was crafted, by the parks donor Sir Logan Campbell. In that surroundings it’s a place where it people exercise, weekend  family fun where there’s place located nearby so you could do family BBQ’s in the park. Plus it’s one very good location to have your wedding photographs taken timelessly.

your after work escape is there 24/7 for you, even though it’s pleasing relaxing refreshing to escape to during summery,  it can be the same during wintery seasons. Driving down the drive. gives your eyes a sense of rest, freshness after intaking delightfully self prescribed dosage the natural light, rather the harsh working office light.

When you drive along this road slowly, it’s a 40Km/hr.  there’s a velocity restriction, due to the people walking around in the park be courtesy take you time.
