 Zhu Yizhen played by Tong Yao represents the young generation with progressive thinking in that era. She gave up the wealthy family status and easy life of the wealthy daughter, devoted herself to the national cause, and started a relationship with Lin Nansheng without knowing it. In the turbulent and turbulent world, the two embarked on different paths due to their different camps, but both had the determination to serve the country with their own lives, eager to use their firm bodies to contend with darkness and decay. From wearing two braids to wearing a colorful cheongsam, the classical-looking Tong Yao controls a number of chronological styles in the play, and portrays the complex heart of the characters through different levels of eye play.

Tong was born in Kunming, in the Yunnan province of China. In 1996, she attended the Chinese Song and Dance Art School in Beijing. She returned to Kunming in the following year, when she was accepted to Kunming Art School. She spent a year studying Hulusi, which is a free reed wind instrument from China and the Shan State. She entered the Central Academy of Drama in 2002, majoring in acting.

In 2002, Tong made her television debut in Tracks In The Snowy Forest, playing a health worker in the Northeast Democratic United Army named Bai Ru.
