Pearl makeup is a type of makeup that can be traced back to the Song Dynasty. Noblewomen used glue made from fish maw as an adhesive and pearls as anchors, placing one on the forehead and dimples, and hanging a string from the temple to the bottom. The positions of the pearls are the same as those of the flower ornaments, oblique red and face dimples in the Tang Dynasty. Pearl makeup inherited the legacy of the Tang Dynasty. The Song Dynasty pursued a light and beautiful makeup aesthetic, so elegant pearl makeup became an innovative attempt for women’s makeup at that time. The creative team of the play consulted and referenced a large number of ancient paintings and materials such as the portraits of the empresses of Emperor Huizong of Song and the portraits of the empresses of Emperor Qinzong of Song to reproduce this historical and cultural treasure through film and television. In addition to pearl makeup, the play’s overall use of classical elements in art is quite rich and flexible. According to the personality characteristics of different characters, the play uses a variety of hair crown styles, integrating fine craftsmanship such as copper hammering, jade carving, and bone carving, making many jewelry styles exude elegance and charm in splendor, presenting the beauty of tradition….
